Drake Curse Strikes Again
If you had any doubts about the Drake Curse, more evidence has come out that the curse is real! Heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, posted a photo on Instagram with Drake in the lead up to his title fight with Andy Ruiz Jr. The caption Joshua posted alongside the photo tempted fate, boasting “Bout to break the curse #June1st”. Joshua was the favourite in the lead up to the bout, with Ruiz a 25/1 outsider. Despite the odds being in his favour, Joshua suffered a humiliating defeat, the first loss of his career.
The curse is an ongoing issue for Drake’s basketball team, the Toronto Raptors who lost overnight to the Golden State Warriors. He is also blamed for the unlucky run of Kentucky Wildcats. They arranged a custom championship ring for ‘Drizzle’ after they won the championship in 2012, but since then haven’t won another championship. Other victims include footballers Layvin Kurzawa, Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Conor McGregor is another fighter who was supported by Drake, who was even photographed holding up an Irish flag. Drake was with McGregor at the weigh-in, and days later suffered one of the worst beatings of his career.
Drake is also blamed for losses suffered by Serena Williams, who started 2015 on a hot streak and holding the title of number one ranked player. He was spotted at some of her important matches that year, including a shock loss at the US Open to an unranked Roberta Vinci from Italy.
Lettsy & Danes have arranged for a photoshop of Drake in a Blue jersey in the hopes of using the curse to their advantage.
