Illawarra Local Scores First World Cup Goal In Win Over Brazil
Illawarra local Caitlin Foord has scored her first world cup goal to help the Matildas stage a 3-2 comeback against Brazil at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
The Matildas were down 2-0 just before half time when Caitlin slotted a cross into the back of the net during the first half stoppage time.
Chloe Logarzo scored the second goal for Australia from a significant distance to tie up the scores 2-2.
Australia’s third goal was not without its controversy. Initially called as off-side by the Sideline Referee, the decision was overturned by the Video Assistant Referee when it was determined as an own goal.
Post game, captain Sam Kerr snapped back at the critics who doubted her team.
The Matildas take on Jamaica next Wednesday in their third and final game of the group stage.
