Musician Grace Mae to Appear at Shellharbour Live & Local Music Festival
Grace Mae is a 13 year old Illawarra musician who has been taking the region by storm ever since winning an open-mic night in Wollongong in 2017. She is gearing up for the release of her first EP Numb and joined 2RS for a chat on Mornings with Chris.
Grace discovered her love of music at a young age, growing up in England and going to live music nights there with her Mum and Dad. Four years ago, Grace decided to get training for singing and take her musical ambitions to the next level. The inspiration for this came from the music she was listening to and surrounding herself with; Grace aspired to be like these musicians! Her musical influences are made of many musically strong women, including Kelsey Ballerini, a young country musician from the USA, Billie Eilish and Amber Lawrence. Grace has also been influenced by her primary school teachers, especially her Glee Club Teacher! She is also close to her parents and says that they work really hard and encourage her.
These musical and personal influences have all combined to shape where Grace is at now. She acknowledges that getting up on stage takes a lot of hard work but realises that once she’s up there, being in the moment and seeing the audience appreciate the music is a massive reward.
In terms of music release plans, upcoming EP Numb is about a lot of stuff that she has been going through in the last six months; the music charts a journey through good times and bad times. Wollongong and Nowra residents will have the chance to see Grace appear at Shellharbour Live & Local Music Festival on June 22 at 3pm at Shellharbour Village.
