thJuly 2019
Aberdeen, NSW

Why not spend a Saturday at the biggest Scottish party that New South Wales has to offer.

On July 6th, Aberdeen will be strewn with punters excited for some Highland and Country Dancing, the parade of bands and Strong Man events with the Tartan Warriors. We’re talking tug-o-war, three legged races and the famous Kilted Dash.

There will be stalls with old Scottish heirlooms, clothing and tradional eats. The evening will host a traditional Ceilidh at Scone High School.

“Last year we had visitors from every state except Northern Territory.”

– Charles Cook, Aberdeen Highland Games President

The Games began in 2000 as a result of the closing of the Meatworks in Aberdeen spurred on by the large Scottish population in the Upper Hunter. President of the event, Charles Cook, said that “it’s grown far more than we ever anticipated”.

Danes had a chat to Charles Cook about the event and it’s history.
