Radio Roadtrip Episode 10: Nimbin
Our road trippers, Jay and Nikki, sure have covered some ground this week. Zig-zagging cross-country on a strikingly spontaneous route, the podcasters have punished the bitumen between Australia’s tropical north, outback settlements and southern cross-roads. They’re knackered. So when Jay’s dad, Richard, suggested they kick up their heels on his hemp farm in Nimbin the two jumped at the opportunity.
Nestled in rainforest 70 km west of Byron Bay, this small village plays host to a dynamic community of artists, musicians, farmers and well-being practitioners. Many who live here pursue alternative lifestyles and the travelling duo were keen to hear about the personalities that colour the town. A definite highlight of tonight’s podcast is Richard’s own penchant for storytelling- he’s generous and expressive in his description of the spot, and we reckon anyone listening will feel like they’re right there with the guys.
There’s so much more to stunning Nimbin than the local delicacies – its dynamic small-town ecology makes it one of the most interesting stops the podcast has made yet.
