What Have We Learned from the Great Australian Dog Survey?

Aren’t dogs great? Australia says “Yes!”

Scratch Pet Foods recently undertook the biggest survey of Australian dogs ever, with over 20,000 pooches (and their owners) surveyed. And the results are… pawfectly fascinating!

We learned, for example, that Australia’s most popular dog breed is the Labrador Retriever (Editor’s note: This is objectively correct. Labradors are the best). And that 33% of dog owners under 35 have Instagram accounts for their furry friends. Not that older Australians are much better – 29% of 35-44-year-olds have one too!

74% of dog owners said they let their dog on the bed. And 83% said they found others more attractive if they owned a dog!

But the most astonishing result? A staggering 45% of dog owners said that they’ve kept eating an ice cream after letting their dog take a lick. The survey didn’t ask if that 45% also brushed their dogs’ teeth, but we can only hope…
