If Elon Musk Can Scam You Then Anyone Can
Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and SpaceX, is being sued for $366B USD (recent updates conclude he is being sued for $258B USD) by a Dogecoin investor who accused him of running a pyramid scheme to support the cryptocurrency.
Even after the public knew that Dogecoin had no value to it, they still invested because Elon Musk did. Just goes to show anyone can be tricked if money is involved, and it seems legit.
Scam calls have been increasing in Australia over the last year, averaging 4.1 billion calls over each month according to the AARP. That’s more than 1,500 calls per second. They use schemes like, “Your NBN account is expired, we need all your details to fix it.” or “Your Amazon account is showing a failed payment for an iPhone 7. Give me your details now or the $800 will be taken from your account.” Very believable scenarios.
Brieahna, an Australian Tik Toker with 183k followers, shares videos of her calls with scammers to raise awareness for their antics. The Breakfast team Mel and Simon had a chat to her about what she’s experienced.
