Generation Blues: Latest track from local rock trio

A trio of young mates from the Illawarra have just released their latest garage rock single: Generation Blues.

Luc says this track “dives into themes about the generation we’re in, TikTok and all that crap, and how it feels like maybe I’m in the wrong sort of generation.”

The angry vocals really do convey the bands frustration of this generation, with lyrics starting “I’ve got a hard time fitting in.”

With the grungy music behind it, you can’t help but to tap your foot and bang your head.

The theme goes deep into how the band feels, but it’s hidden by being a “quick energetic punk song.”

Luc is behind the mic, Angus is strumming the strings, and Riley is hitting the sticks.

The three have grown up together.

Luc and Riley have been mates since primary school with Angus joining the crew a little later. Riley said “Angus slowly merged in and we thought ‘oh this guy is pretty cool’”.

The band was officially started in 2019, around when Luc and Riley were graduating high school, and in 2021 Angus joined.

“He joined the band a later and now we wouldn’t be the same without him” Riley said. “We’ve been making completely different stuff ever since.”

With Angus joining in 2021, it was hard for the three to start playing to crowds after the covid lockdowns. After the lockdown, the band still got up on stage to blast their tunes, but it wasn’t quite right with the crowds social distancing in chairs.

Angus said “before covid there was a real atmosphere at gigs and people would move around and have fun, but it’s kinda not the same anymore after the era of covid.”

“I feel like it’s at a good point now; It was a real struggle right out the bat, but now it’s really back in action” Riley added.
