The 65th TV Week Logie Awards have recognised several Illawarra-based talents, highlighting the region’s growing influence in Australian television.

Wollongong’s Michael Theo from the Australian TV Series Love On The Spectrum has been nominated for the ‘Actor in a Comedy’ award, for his performance in the ABC’s Austin.

Actress Jenna Owen has also received a nomination for ‘Best Lead Actress’ for her role in the Christmas film Nugget is Dead.

ABC crime-comedy Return To Paradise, filmed in the northern Illawarra region, has scored a nomination for ‘Best Drama Program’, with three featured actors from the show being selected for an award.

This year’s nominations underscore the Illawarra’s rising profile in national media circles.

The Logie Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at The Star Casino in Sydney on August 3, where winners across all categories will be announced.
