From Burgers to Brotherhood

His Boy Elroy Serves Up More Than Just Good Food
Tucked in the heart of Wollongong, His Boy Elroy isn’t your average burger joint. Yes, the burgers are mouthwatering, and the beers are cold but it’s the heart behind the hustle that really sets it apart.
Owner Lachlan describes the venue as more than a sports bar and restaurant. “We’re about community, authenticity, and loyalty,” he says. “The food is just the connector, a way to bring people together.”
And bring people together they do. Whether it’s dishing out $30,000 worth of free burgers during COVID to isolated locals, or launching initiatives that support men’s mental health and veterans, His Boy Elroy is proving that a small business can have a big impact.
One standout project is Walk With Us Kokoda, an initiative under the Raising the Bar Foundation. It gives veterans the opportunity to trek the historic Kokoda Trail and return home inspired to give back to their own communities.
As a veteran himself, Lachlan brings authenticity and deep purpose to the work. “Supporting our veterans is incredibly important to me,” he says. “We’re proud that all of this has grown from simply selling burgers and beers.”
Upcoming treks run from August 6–16, and the public can get involved by donating, spreading the word, or following the cause on social media. Learn more at walkwithuskokoda.org.au .
