New plans for Wollongong’s beaches could change how you soak up the sun this summer
Plans for timed parking at congested coastal hotspots have already been planned for this coming summer by Wollongong City Council. The crackdown plans to address growing car park demands at Wollongong’s popular beachside car parks to make it easier for more beachgoers to enjoy the sea and sand
This temporary decision is a part of the Summer Foreshore Parking Strategy that looks to answer parking demands at beachside car parks. For those who may be concerned by the Foreshore parking management, it will only be implemented for the 2023/24 summer period until March next year. The proposed changes will be affecting areas of Bald Hill, Austinmer Beach, Stanwell Park, Wombarra Beach, Bellambi Beach, Flagstaff Hill and Port Kembla Beach.
The impact of this decision over the summer will be reviewed by council to see how to tackle increasing parking congestion over summer periods. For more information, you can read the FAQs, submit a feedback form, or talk with local council staff or join an online information session here.
